Monthly Dues

Your monthly dues would be approximately $27, based on the weighted average* of Allegiant Air Flight Attendant wages across all seniority groups.

Management is trying to scare us into believing that our monthly dues would be much higher, which would significantly impact our quality of life.  Don’t believe it!  Union dues help pay for vital services that would improve our quality of life.

Here are a few facts you should be aware of:

  • We will not pay any dues whatsoever until after our first contract is in place.
  • There are no dues of any kind for the period between the representation election and acceptance of the first contract.  A majority of Allegiant Flight Attendants, not TWU International, must vote via secret ballot to accept our first (and all subsequent) contract.
  • Seventy percent of dues remain with the local union, comprised entirely of Allegiant Air Flight Attendants, while thirty percent are paid to the International union to provide support and other services.
  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, union workers earn approximately thirty percent more in wages and benefits than non-union workers in similar jobs.

*What is a weighted average, and how is it calculated?

To calculate the “average” wage of a workgroup is a straightforward analysis that must take into account not only the different pay rates associated with each step or year on the employee pay scale, but also the number of employees on each pay step.  This technique is commonly known as calculating the weighted average pay, as it is “weighted” by the number of employees, and not just a simple average of the pay scale rates.  This number can be used as a statistically valid measure of average pay compared to other employee groups, or as a means by which to calculate dues.
