After a successful career in education, Michael decided to take his life in a new direction and a year and a half ago he did just that by joining our ever-growing Allegiant family. Though he stays in Collierville, TN when he is working, his actual home is Lexington, KY. Here you can find him relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book, preparing gourmet delectables in the kitchen or satisfying his musical appetite as he plays his favorite compositions on the piano.
As many of us know firsthand, the life of a commuter is never easy but Michael manages to maintain a cheerful and positive demeanor, “I left my previous profession because I no longer had fun at work. I joined the Allegiant team because one of the company values is “fun.” I live that value to the fullest when I’m at work. Yes, our primary interest is safety, but despite the issues our company is facing, for me, it’s still fun to go to work. At the charter base we have a unique opportunity to get to know our passengers as many are repeat customers. It’s always fun to share stories with them and hear about their experiences.”
As our company grows, so do our problems and our charter bases are no exception. Michael pointed out one particular issue that is truly the root of problems for every base. “I think the biggest challenge we face at my base is getting information from the company. However, that’s probably a concern in every base. Everyone seems to be “out of the loop.” I certainly believe communication could stand some major improvement with our company.” Communication is a serious issue that we can each help to rectify. It is, as always, more important than ever that we stand united, but what does unity mean to you? Michael had this to say, “For me, unity means that we are working together for a common goal. We may not always agree on how to get there, but we all agree that we want to get there.” Michael also reminds us of the words of Lyndon B. Johnson who said “We come to reason, not to dominate. We do not seek to have our way, but to find a common way.” Making this our mantra, our credo will certainly benefit us as we navigate the tempestuous waters of negotiation.
Thank you for that reminder Michael and thank you for no longer being just a face in the crowd.
